Bird Group of Companies
The Bird Group of Companies comprises three Public Sector Undertakings: Eastern Investments Ltd (EIL), Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd (OMDC), and Bisra Stone Lime Company Ltd (BSLC). These entities were originally part of Bird & Company Ltd, which was nationalized under the Bird & Company Ltd (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings and Other Properties) Act, 1980. Since 19 March 2010, they have operated as PSUs under the Ministry of Steel, with headquarters in Kolkata, West Bengal. EIL is a Non-Banking Financial Company and the holding company for OMDC and BSLC. These companies are engaged in mining iron ore, manganese, limestone, and dolomite, contributing significantly to India’s mineral sector.
